The first Not Equal summer school will take place in Swansea from the 27-30th August 2019. It will explore intersections between Algorithmic Social Justice and Digital Security through a programme of talks, workshops and panel sessions that focus on the themes of: social lens for hi-tech design, digital security as a social good and methods of co-design and responsible research and innovation.

The summer school will challenge PhD students from different disciplinary backgrounds to work together to co-produce new and innovative ways of applying social lenses to digital and algorithmic design, implementation and evaluation. The programme will be framed by challenges that speak to Not Equal’s themes. Participants will be encouraged to collaborate in the workshop sessions to apply the knowledge gained from the talks together with their own areas of expertise to respond to these challenges.
